assist in the project. The Commission may also accept the services of
qualified volunteers who are willing to serve without pay. Tentative drafts
of proposed revisions shall be printed and circulated among interested
persons and their comments solicited.
§ 2. The revision of Title 16, dealing with courts not of record,
shall be undertaken first.
§ 3. The revision of Title 18, dealing with corporations generally,
and Chapter 2 of Title 56, dealing with the creation of public service
companies, and Article 1 of Chapter 13 of Title 56, dealing with the
creation of railroad corporations, shall be undertaken as soon as possible
after provision has been made for commencing the work on Title 16.
The Commission shall submit to the Governor and the General
Assembly, on or before October one, nineteen hundred fifty-five, a report
of its recommendations, together with suggested legislation necessary to
carry such recommendations into effect.
. The Commission is authorized to expend funds made available
to it by this Act for the purpose of paying the expenses of members of
the Commission, and the expenses of members of committees selected by
it, when engaged in the performance of duties imposed by this Act, as
well as the salaries and expenses of persons employed by the Commission
to work on the revision of the Titles of the Code herein mentioned, and
other expenses of the Commission properly chargeable to this project.
2. There is hereby appropriated to the Virginia Code Commission, to
be used solely for the purposes hereinabove set forth, the sum of twenty
thousand dollars, or so much thereof as shall be necessary.
