CHAPTER 542
An Act to provide for the construction and maintenance of certain roads
over certain property of the Commonwealth in Accomack a
Approved April 5, 1954
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The State Highway Commission is authorized to construct or
permit to be constructed a road or roads over that portion of the prop-
erty of the Commonwealth of Virginia described by § 62-1 of the Code
of Virginia lying, generally, between a point known as Smith farm in
Lee Magisterial District in Accomack County, Virginia, and a point on
the island formerly known as Cedar Island and now known as Ocean
City, Virginia, in the said magisterial district and county upon the condi-
tions hereinafter set forth.
§ 2. Each such road shall have a right of way of two hundred
feet, and its construction shall conform to good engineering practice and
such reasonable standards in conformance therewith as may be pre-
scribed by the State Highway Commission.
§ 3. Every such right of way shall remain, and every such road
shall become, the property of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and shall
be open to public use.
§ 4. The State Highway Commission may itself construct or cause
to be constructed, or may permit any person, firm or corporation to con-
struct, such road or roads; provided, however, when the road is con-
structed as provided for in the foregoing it shall become a part of the
‘secondary road system of Accomack County.
