CHAPTER 513

An Act to amend and reenact § 24-218 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to when ballots to be printed and the number required. fH 111)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. ' That § 24-213 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:

§ 24-2138. When ballots printed; number required.—Except as pro-
vided in § 24-290.4, it shall be the duty of the electoral boards of the
several counties and cities of this State, as soon as practicable after the
secretary is officially notified of the names of the candidates in any elec-
tion, and at least thirty days prior to any primary or general election, or
in the case of a special election, or second primary election, at least thirty
days prior to the election or as soon thereafter as possible, to cause the
ballots to be printed, the number to be determined by the respective elec-
toral boards, but shall not be less than twenty-five per centum more than
the number of ballots cast in the last preceding election for President nor
more than twice the number of ballots cast in such election.
