An Act to regulate the manner of erection of moving picture screens con-
nected with open air theaters; to require provision of certain space
adjacent to highways approaching the entrances to such theaters;
and to require certain lighting and marking of the area immediately
adjacent to such entrances.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. It shall be unlawful for any person hereafter to erect any
moving picture screen connected with an outdoor moving picture theater
so that the picture thereon is visible within a distance of thirteen hun-
dred feet or less to motor vehicle drivers on any primary road in this
tate.
§ 2. The owner or operator of an outdoor moving picture theater
shall provide sufficient space between the outer edge of the hard surface
or used portion of any highway, from which vehicles approach any entrance
of such theater and the ticket booth or booths of the theater, sufficient
to accommodate vehicles in the number of not less than five per cent of
the total theater vehicle capacity. In determining the space requirements
above set forth, the same shall be calculated on the basis of one hundred
sixty-two square feet per vehicle. ~°
§ All entrance and exit driveways of any open air theater shall
be adequately lighted and properly marked to avoid congestion and con-
fusion and shall remain lighted throughout any performance given at
such theater and until a reasonable time thereafter sufficient to permit all
vehicles to leave the grounds of the theater.
2. If any provision or application of this act be declared invalid, the
remainder of the act and other applications shall not be affected thereby.
