CHAPTER 350
An Act for the relief of H.C. Hall.
[fH 41]
Approved April 2, 1954
Whereas, H. C. Hall, then clerk of King and Queen County, Virginia,
inadvertently charged tax on a deed of trust given by the First Baptist
Church of King and Queen, in the amount of $37.50, which deed was, under
the law of Virginia, not subject to such tax; and
Whereas, Mr. Hall reported the same in his report for March, 1951,
and paid the amount of the tax, less 5% commission, into the treasury of
the Commonwealth; and
Whereas, when the mistake was discovered Mr. Hall immediately
reimbursed the First Baptist Church of King and Queen by his personal
check in the sum of $37.50; and
Whereas, there is no way under existing law whereby the sum
erroneously received by the Commonwealth may be reimbursed to Mr. Hall;
now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That there is hereby appropriated from the general fund in the State
treasury the sum of thirty-five dollars and sixty-two cents, and the
Comptroller is directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer in this
amount, payable to H. C. Hall.
