CHAPTER 340
An Act to provide for the construction by the State Department of High-
ways of a road from the State highway in Westmoreland County to the
birthplace of James Monroe; and to appropriate funds.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The State Department of Highways shall construct a road to the birth.
place of James Monroe in Westmoreland County, beginning such road at
the nearest State highway adjacent to such birthplace. No such road shall
be constructed until title to the land required has been vested in the State.
In the discharge of the duties imposed by this act the Department of
Highways shall cooperate with the Monroe Birthplace Monument Associa-
tion.
2. There is hereby appropriated out of the funds in the State treasury
for the construction and reconstruction of State highways the sum of
fifteen thousand dollars to be expended as provided in this act. The
allocation of primary highway funds to the construction district in which
the birthplace is located shall be reduced by the amount of this appropria-
ion.
