An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a section num-
bered 8-277.1, so as to permit the introduction of certain copies of
certain records in evidence.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a section
numbered 8-277.1 as follows:
§ 8-277.1. In any case where the original hospital records or papers
of any patient in a hospital or institution for the treatment of physical or
mental sickness or ills, are admissible or would be admissible as evidence,
any typewritten copy, photograph, photostatic copy, or microphotograph
thereof shall be admissible as evidence in any court of this Commonwealth
in like manner as the original, provided said typewritten copy, photograph,
photostatic copy or microphotograph is properly authenticated by such
hospital employees as would have authority to release or produce in court
the original records.
