CHAPTER 204
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto sections num-
bered 46-188.5 and 46-188.6, relating to persons propelling, operating
and riding upon motorcycles. 'H 79)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto sections
numbered 46-183.5 and 46-183.6 as follows:
§ 46-183.5 A person operating a motorcycle shall ride only upon
the permanent and regular seat attached to the motorcycle, and such oper-
ator shall not carry any other person, and no other person shall ride on
a motorcycle unless such motorcycle is designed to carry more than one
person, in which event a passenger may ride upon the permanent and
regular seat if designed for two persons, or upon another seat firmly
attached to the rear or side of the seat for the operator.
§ 46-183.6. Any person convicted of violating the provisions of
§ 46-183.5 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
punished in accordance with § 19-265.
