CHAPTER 19
An Act to amend and reenact §§ 1 and 5 of Chapter 546 of the Acts of
Assembly of 1948, approved April 6, 1948, which authorized the
Governor to acquire certain real estate in the city of Richmond and to
take certain other actions in connection therewith, so as to authorize
the Governor to exercise such powers in the area immediately adjacent
to such real estate and continuing certain of his powers in connection
with such real estate.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 1 and 5 of Chapter 546 of the Acts of Assembly of 1948,
approved April 6, 1948, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 1. The Governor of Virginia is hereby authorized and empowered
to acquire by gift, purchase, condemnation or otherwise, for and on behalf
of the Commonwealth, at such time as in his discretion he may deem
proper, all that certain parcel of real estate and the appurtenances thereon
and thereunto belonging, situated and being in the city of Richmond and
bounded by North Twelfth Street, East Franklin Street and Governor
Street, and being north of a line, extended, from North Twelfth Street
to Governor Street, along the rear of the property formerly occupied by
the Division of Motor Vehicles. In order to provide for the development
of such property the Governor is further authorized to acquire in like man-
mer such property as he may deem necessary on the east side of Governor
or Thirteenth Street north of Main Street, and property on the south side
of Franklin Street east of its intersection with Governor or Thirteenth
Street.
§ 5. The funds necessary to carry out the provisions of this act may
be made available by the Governor and used for such purpose out of funds
specifically appropriated for improvements to State-owned buildings and
equipment and for the purchase of and improvements to real estate under
* the Appropriations Act of nineteen hundred * fifty-two.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
