CHAPTER 72

An Act to amend and reenact § 22-79 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
certain duties of school boards, the appointment of local school com-
mittees, and the duties and compensation of such committees. :

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
ta That § 22-79 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as

ollows:

§ 22-79. It shall be the duty of the school board to call meetings of
the people of the county for consultation in regard to the school interest
thereof when deemed necessary by the board.

The board is authorized to appoint local school committees of not
* less than three nor more than seven members for each schoolhouse,
whose duty it shall be to advise the members of the board with reference
to matters pertaining to the local school and to cooperate with the board
in the provisions for the care of the school property and for the successful
operation of the school. Such committee shall serve without compensation.
