numbered 54-806.1, relating to when certain persons may take certain
examinations.
[H 722]
Approved April 7, 1952
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a section
numbered 54-306.1, as follows:
§ 54-306.1. When an applicant is a graduate of a medical school,
and, after his or her graduation, has been an intern or resident physician,
either or both, in this State for a period of two years or more, and there-
after served three years as a medical officer in the Armed Forces of the
United States; and thereafter has had not less than five years experience
as a licensed practitioner in the general practice of medicine, he or she
shall be permitted to take the examinations provided for by this Article.
Provided, however, that the medical school from which he or she was
graduated is, at the time of his or her application to take such examination,
a medical school which is approved by the Council on Medical Education
and Hospitals and that other members of the applicant’s graduating
class from such medical school have been allowed to take such examina-
tions while the applicant was serving his country as above set forth; and
provided the applicant furnishes evidence of good moral character and
is over twenty-five years of age at the time of such application; and pro-
vided further that such applicant furnishes the Board of Examiners with
a statement that he or she, after successfully passing the examination and
being licensed, will begin and continue for a period of at least 5 years
thereafter, the practice of medicine in some rural county of this State
having a population of more than 15,700 but less than 16,000 and provided
finally that if such applicant having been so examined and licensed does not
continue such practice for such period of time as above prescribed, such
license shall thereupon be revoked by the Board.
