CHAPTER 683
An Act to require county agents in certain counties to perform certain
duties in relation to the prevention, abatement and control of certain
diseases of livestock and poultry; to confer certain powers; and to
require certain officers to assist in the enforcement of this act; and
to repeal Chapter 166 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946, approved
March 11, 1946, relating to the foregoing.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The county agent in each county of this State having a popu-
lation of more than forty-five thousand and less than fifty thousand
according to the last preceding United States census, and in which the
production of livestock and milk products is an important business, shall
be vested with all powers necessary for the control, abatement and pre-
vention of all diseases of livestock and poultry in any such county which
diseases have been classed by law as contagious and infectious of livestock
or poultry.
§ 2. Any such county agent shall perform such inspections, take
blood samples from, or make tests of, animals and fowls as will aid in
the control, prevention and abatement of any such diseases, including the
imposition of quarantine or other measures that are needed for such pur-
poses. It shall be the duty of all persons to comply with all such measures.
§ 3. The State veterinarian and any such county agent shall cooper-
ate in the enforcement of the provisions of this act and other laws relating
to such diseases.
2. Chapter 166 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946, approved March 11,
1946, is repealed.
