CHAPTER 66
An Act to authorize the Director of Conservation and Development, with
the approval of the Governor, to convey to the United States certain
lands or interests therein, within or appurtenant to certain State
parks; to appropriate the proceeds therefrom and to repeal Chapter
805 of the Acts of Assembly of 1950, approved April 4, 1950, relating
to the foregoing.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Director of Conservation and Development, with the ap-
proval of the Governor, is hereby authorized to give, grant, convey and
transfer to the United States of America, all right, title, or interest which
the Department of Conservation and Development, or the State of Vir-
ginia, has in or to such land or lands as lie within or are appurtenant to,
Fairy Stone State Park and Staunton River State Park required in con-
nection with the construction and operation by the United States of the
Philpot Dam and Reservoir and the John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir;
provided, however, that should the United States and the Virginia De-
partment of Conservation and Development determine that the convey-
ance of a lesser interest would satisfy the requirements of the United
States, the Director of Conservation and Development, with the approval
of the Governor, may convey such lesser interest to the United States of
America under such terms and conditions and for such consideration as
may be lawful, reasonable and proper.
§ 2. Any deed or deeds, or conveyance or conveyances, made to the
United States in pursuance of these sections shall be executed in the name
of the Commonwealth and the Department of Conservation and Develop-
ment, and shall be signed by the Director of Conservation and Develop-
ment and the Governor and shall be attested by the Secretary of the Com-
monwealth and sealed with the lesser seal of the Commonwealth, and no
other warrant or authority shall be required for the recordation of any
such instrument.
2. The revenue derived by the Department of Conservation and Develop-
ment hereunder shall be paid into the State treasury and are hereby ap-
propriated to such Department for capital outlays for the improvement of
State parks and shall be expended, subject to approval by the Governor,
for such purpose.
Chapter three hundred five of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hun-
dred fifty, approved April four, nineteen hundred fifty, is repealed.
4. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
