An Act to authorize the Virginia State Hospital Board to negotiate with
the School Board of Smyth county in regard to the conveyance of
certain real estate now owned by the State Hospital Board, and to
authorize the State Hospital Board to convey the same real ons

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. The State Hospital Board is authorized and empowered to
negotiate with and, with the written approval of the Governor, to sell for
such consideration and on such terms as it shall deem best, and to convey
by proper deed executed by its chairman and under its seal, to the School
Board of Smyth County for public school purposes all the right, title and
interest of the Commonwealth of Virginia and such Board in and to certain
real estate, lying and being one mile more or less east of the Smyth county
courthouse, bounded on the north by Stage Street, on the east by. property
of the Southwestern State Hospital, on the south by the Norfolk and
Western Railroad right of way, and on the west by property of the Smyth
county Board of Education; containing 18.53 acres, more or less and
being more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at a stake set in the corner of a line fence between the
described property and property belonging to the Smyth county Board
of Education, said corner being the N. E. corner of the school property,
and the N. W. corner of the described property; thence N61-37E with
a fence (the street line of Stage Street) 260.4’ to a stake set in fence
corner; thence with a fence S27-53E, 70.6’; thence with the fence S27-34E,
66.2’ to a stake set in fence; thence leaving fence N79-58E, 97.2’ to a
stake; thence N69-35E, 448.0’ to a stake (the N. E. corner of described
property); thence S20-25E, 30’ to a stake set in fence corner; thence
leaving the fence S81-25E, 583.2’ to a stake set in right of way fence of
the N. & W. Railroad; thence with the fence and right of way S59-41W,
349.2’ to a stake; thence with the fence and right of way S59-47W, 639.9’
to a stake; thence with the fence and right of way S66-19W, 108.8’ to
a stake; thence with the fence and right of way S71-40W, 116.4’ to a
stake; thence with the fence and right of way S79-03W, 137.1’ to a stake;
thence with the fence and right of way S86-05W, 72.7’ to a stake; thence
with the fence and right of way S88-10W, 53.0’ to a stake set in fence
corner; this corner being the S. W. corner of the described property and
the S. E. corner of the school property; thence leaving the right of way
of the N. & W. Railroad N38-12E, 163.77’ with a fence to a stake; thence
with the fence N22-19E, 141.18’ to a stake; thence with a fence N14-11E,
329.74’ to a stake; thence with a fence N4-11E, 319.13’ to a stake; thence
with the fence N64-57W, 106.9’ to the beginning.

2. All moneys accruing from the sale herein authorized shall be
deposited in the State Treasury to the credit of the General Fund.
