[S 141]
Approved April 2, 1952
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 14-70 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted, and
that the Code be amended by adding sections numbered 14-66.1, 14-68.1,
14-69.1 and 14-71.1, as follows:
§ 14-66.1. On and after July one, nineteen hundred fifty-two, the
maximum salary applicable to each officer whose salary 1s prescribed by
§ 14-66 shall be raised by ten per centum of the amount prescribed by such
section and all amendments thereof; provided that in fixing the salaries of
officers whose ranges of compensation are prescribed by § 14-66 the ranges
of compensation heretofore applicable in counties having a population of
more than five thousand but not more than ten thousand inhabitants shall
hereafter apply to such officers in counties having a population of five
thousand or less.
§ 14-68.1. On and after July one, nineteen hundred fifty-two, the
maximum salary applicable to each officer whose salary 1s prescribed by
§ 14-68 shall be raised by ten per centum of the amount prescribed by such
section and all amendments thereof.
§ 14-69.1. On and after July one, nineteen hundred fifty-two, the
maximum salary applicable to each officer whose salary is prescribed by
§ 14-69 shall be raised by ten per centum of the amount prescribed by such
section and all amendments thereof.
§ 14-70. The annual salaries of city commissioners of the revenue
shall be within the limits prescribed for the several city treasurers by
sf 14-68 and 14-68.1. Nothing herein contained shall prevent the council
of any city having a population of more than one hundred and twenty-five
thousand people according to the nineteen hundred and thirty United
States census from supplementing the salary of the commissioner of the
revenue in such city for additional services not required by general law,
provided, however, that any such supplemental salary shall be paid wholly
by such city.
§ 14-71.1. On and after July one, nineteen hundred fifty-two, the
maximum salary applicable to each officer whose salary is prescribed by
§ 14-71 shall be raised by ten per centum of the amount prescribed by such
section and all amendments thereof.
