CHAPTER 472
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
28-68.1, to authorize the governing body of each county to regulate
parking of vehicles within the boundaries of State-supported institu-
tions in the county upon request of the governing body of such
institution and to prescribe limits of penalties for violation of any
regulation so made.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: _
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
23-68.1 as follows:
§ 23-68.1. Upon request of the governing body of any State-sup-
ported institution lying wholly or partially within any county, the gov-
erning body of such county shall have the authority to and may adopt
ordinances governing parking of motor vehicles and all other vehicles
on the roads, streets, alleys, grounds and other areas within such portions
of the boundaries of such institution as lie within the said county.
Any such ordinance may provide penalties for its violation not ex-
ceeding a fine of twenty dollars.
The trial justice of the county whose governing body adopts any
ordinance under authority of this section shall have jurisdiction to try
cases arising thereunder to the same extent as criminal cases arising
in the county. All fines paid in such cases shall be disposed of by the
trial justice as prescribed by § 14-54. oo
Any request from the governing body of any such institution to the
governing body of the county shall be in writing signed by the presiding
officer of the governing body of such institution and shall be accom-
panied by a certified copy of a resolution of such governing body author-
izing such request to be made.
