CHAPTER 454

An Act to amend and reenact § 46-884 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
the weight of vehicles and loads.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
tn That § 46-334 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as

ollows:

§ 46-334. Weight of vehicles and loads.—The maximum gross weight
to be permitted on the road surface through any axle of any vehicle shall
not exceed sixteen thousand pounds, nor shall it exceed six hundred and
fifty pounds per inch, width of tire, measured in contact with the surface
of the highway. The mazimum gross weight * of any two azle * vehicle
shall not exceed twenty-four thousand pounds and the maximum gross
weight of * any combination of vehicles having three or more azles shall
not exceed thirty-five thousand pounds. * No two axles shall lie in the
same vertical plane, nor shall the axle spacing be less than forty inches
from center to center. *

For the purpose of determining gross weight, no axle shall be con-
sidered unless the wheels thereof are equipped with brakes in conformity
with 8§ 46-288 to 46-286.
