An Act to amend and reenact § 46-176 of the Code of Virginia, relating to
the reduction of registration fees for motor vehicles after certain
periods.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46-176 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
follows:
§ 46-176. One-half of the annual fees prescribed by §§ 46-154 to
46-156, 46-158, 46-159 and 46-162 to 46-165 shall be collected whenever any
registration certificate and license plates are issued during the period
beginning on the first day of October in any year, and ending on the fif-
teenth day of January in the same license year, and one-third of such
fees shall be collected whenever any registration certificate and license
plates are issued after the fifteenth day of January in any license year;
provided, however, that the fees for the certificate of registration and
license plates to be paid by the owner of any private motor vehicle, other
than a motorcycle, designed and used for the transportation of passengers
not for compensation, when the same are issued after the fifteenth day of
January in any license year, shall be three dollars.
2. An emergency exists, and this act is in force from its passage.
