An Act for the relief of Wilbur Wright
Approved April 1, 1952
Whereas, Robert Virgil Wright, son of Wilbur Wright, a schoolboy
at Farmville Elementary School was playing baseball on the grounds of
Longwood College, with the knowledge and permission of the authorities
of the college; and
Whereas, while engaged in pursuing a ball, Robert Virgil Wright
fell into a manhole left open by the employees of the college; and
Whereas, Robert Virgil Wright was seriously and grievously injured
by his fall, and caused to be treated for the injuries thus sustained, in-
curring medical bills in the sum of one hundred sixty dollars, which Wilbur
Wright, his father has paid; and
Whereas, Robert Virgil Wright, in his own right, and by Wilbur
Wright, his father and next friend, nor Wilbur Wright, by his own right
have any method by which they may be compensated for the loss; now,
therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That there is appropriated from the general fund of the State treasury
the sum of one hundred sixty dollars, and the comptroller is directed to
draw his warrant on the State treasurer in that amount payable to Wilbur
Wright.
Provided, however, that Wilbur Wright, contemporaneously with the
delivery of the warrant, execute a full and complete release to the Common-
wealth of Virginia, for himself and as father and next friend of Robert
Virgil Wright.
