CHAPTER 376

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
56-469.1, relating to the liability of telegraph and telephone com-
panies who undertake, without compensation, to sound fire alarms.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
56-469.1, as follows:

§ 56-469.1. Where any telegraph or telephone company has assumed,
without compensation, the undertaking to sound any fire alarm, in coopera-
tion with the governing body of any town, city or county or the fire
department thereof, then such company shall not be liable in any proceed-
ing. growing out of the performance or nonperformance of such under-
taking.
