An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
62-192, relating to the operation of boats without mufflers; exemptions
therefrom; and to provide penalties for violations. nH

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
62-192 as follows:
§ 62-192. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate an outboard
motor, other than an outboard motor designed and used solely for racing,
upon a boat upon any tidal waters of this Commonwealth unless the motor
of such boat be equipped with a muffler or underwater exhaust in good
working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual
noise. The provisions of this section shall not apply to any bona fide race
or regatta, sponsored by a duly organized yacht or boat club.
Any person violating this section shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
aed and upon conviction shall be fined not exceeding one hundred
ollars.
