An Act to amend and reenact § 19-214.1 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the appointment of defense counsel in felony cases so as to require
the appointment of such counsel by the court in any such case in
which a person is not represented by counsel. rH 162)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 19-214.1 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:

§ 19-214.1. In any case in which * a person is charged with a felony
and is not represented by counsel, the court, before accepting the plea of
such person, shall * by order entered of record appoint an attorney at law
to represent him. *
