An Act to amend and reenact § 53-295 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to jurisdiction of trial of convicts.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 53-295 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
follows:
§ 53-295. All criminal proceedings against convicts in the penitentiary
shall be in the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond; but when convicts
are employed upon any work of public or private improvement in any
county in the State the criminal proceedings against them may be in the
circuit court of the county in which the convict is so.employed or in the
Circuit Court of the City of Richmond; provided that as to convicts held
an the State penal institutions in Goochland County, criminal proceedings
against them may be held in the circuit court of Goochland County or in
the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond.
