An Act to amend and reenact § 1 of Chapter 85 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1948, approved March 8, 1948, relating to boards of assessors of
real estate in certain counties. rH 560]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 1 of Chapter 85 of the Acts of Assembly of 1948, approved
March 3, 1948, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 1. Any county having a population of more than forty-two
thousand but not more than * forty-five thousand * , according to the last
preceding United States census, shall have a continuing board of assessors
of real estate. Such board shall be composed of not less than three nor
more than five members, who shall be resident freeholders of the county,
and shall be appointed by the circuit court of the county, or the judge
thereof in vacation, and whose term of office shall be two years from artd
after the first day of July next following such appointment. The first
appointment hereunder shall be made in the month of June, nineteen
hundred forty-eight, and subsequent appointments shall be made in the
month of June of each successive two years thereafter.
