An Act to amend and reenact § 46-154 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the registration fees for passenger carrying vehicles. a a8

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
a That § 46-154 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:
§ 46-154. All motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers designed and
used for the transportation of passengers shall be licensed according to
weight and the manufacturer’s shipping weight shall be used in deter-
mining the license fees herein prescribed. Except as hereinafter other-
wise provided, the fee for the certificate of registration and license plates,
to be paid to the Commissioner by the owner of the motor vehicle, shall
be seventy cents per hundred pounds of weight or major fraction thereof ;
* and no fee for a motorcycle shall be less than three dollars per year
and two dollars additional for each side car; and provided further, that
the fees for the certificate of registration and license plates to be paid
by the owner of any private motor vehicle with a normal seating capacity of
not more than eight adult persons, other than a motorcycle, designed and
used for the transportation of passengers not for compensation, shall be *
ten dollars. The provisions of this act shall not affect or limit any license
taxes imposed by any city or county on motor vehicles for the year 1952.
2. An emergency exists, and this act is in force from its passage.
