CHAPTER 214

An Act to amend and reenact § 17-1385 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to cities of the first class for purposes of establishment of corpora-
tion courts.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
tn That § 17-135 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows: |

§ 17-135. For the purpose of a judicial system, the following cities,
which as shown by the United States census of nineteen hundred forty, or
other census provided by law, contain ten thousand inhabitants or more, to
wit: Alexandria, Bristol, Charlottesville, Danville, Lynchburg, Newport
News, Norfolk, Petersburg, Portsmouth, Richmond, Roanoke, South
Norfolk, Staunton, Waynesboro and Winchester are declared to be cities
of the first class.
2. This Act shall be in force on and after February one, nineteen hun-
dred fifty-three.
