An Act to provide for the inspection of certain State facilities by persons
who will be members of the General Assembly. rH 201]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. Inspections may be made of the grounds, buildings, and other
physical facilities appurtenant to State agencies and State supported insti-
tutions, at the times and by the persons hereinafter set forth.
§ 2. The Director of the Budget shall arrange for the inspection in
each year immediately preceding the regular session of the General
Assembly for the following persons at the following times: (a) for the
members of the forthcoming General Assembly and candidates for election
to the forthcoming General Assembly who have no opposition in the
November general election, such inspections shall be as soon as practicable
after October 1; (b) for the members-elect of the General Assembly who
were opposed in the November general election such inspection shall be
between the 15th of November and the 1st of December in the year of
election. Provided, that such inspection trips shall be provided at State
expense for each member of the General Assembly only once for each term
for which he is elected.
§ 3. The Director of the Division of the Budget shall provide, from
funds appropriated by law, transportation, meals, lodging, and other neces-
sary accommodations for the persons making the inspection for which
this act provides. Travel shall be arranged by motor bus or other con-
venient method of transportation from some central point from which
trips to the several State agencies and institutions shall be made. The
Director shall notify the persons permitted to make such inspection of the
place and time of origin from which such trip shall begin and when it is
expected to end. He shall make such arrangements as will be convenient
to the persons desiring to make such trip of inspection.
§ 4. The persons making such trip shall be allowed their reasonable
expenses in going to and from their homes to the point of origin of the
trips. Mileage at the rate of five cents per mile each way shall be allowed.
No per diem compensation and no other expense or allowance shall be paid.
§ 5. Nothing contained in this act is intended to restrict in any way
the right of any member of the General Assembly to visit at his expense
any State institution at any time.
