AN ACT to amend and reenact § 8-888 of the Code of 1950,
relating to liens on real estate of decree for alimony, to
extend the provisions to maintenance, support and educa-
tion of infant children of parties to a divorce prover any

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 8-388 of the Code of 1950 be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 8-388. Special provision in decree for alimony or for
future installments of payments for maintenance, etc., of infant
children of the parties.—In a decree for alimony or for sums for
the maintenance, support and education of infant children of
the parties payable in future installments the court may * pro-
vide that such payments shall not be a lien on the real estate of
the person required to make such payments, or may designate
the real estate on which the sum shall be a lien; or subsequently
on petition release such lien for alimony or for such sums for
the maintenance, support and education of infant children
whether heretofore accrued by virtue of any decree enterea
prior to the effective date of this amendment or to accrue there-
ifter.
