AN ACT to amend and reenact § 1, as amended, of Chap 111
of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved March 6, 1942,
relating to retirement systems in certain counties, which
were continued in force by § 51-114 of the Code of 1950,
so as to extend the application of the act to certain officers
of certain counties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
That § 1, as amended, of Chapter 111 of the Acts of Assem-
biy of 1942, approved March 6, 1942, which were continued in
force by § 51-114 of the Code of 1950, be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 1. The governing body of any county having a popula-
tion of more than one thousand a square mile, and adjacent to
a city within or without this State having a population of five
hundred thousand or more, and the governing body of any
county which has adopted the county manager form of organi-
zation and government provided in * Chapter 12 of Title 15 of
the Code of 1950, is authorized to establish by ordinance, a
retirement system ‘for the employees and county officers, includ-
ing Constitutional officers, with ten or more years service,
of such county, including all employees of the county school
board other than teachers *, and from time to time, to appro-
priate from the funds under its control such moneys as neces-
sary for financing in whole or in part of the system when so
established.
