AN ACT to amend the Code of 1950 by adding a section num-
bered 29-194.1, authorizing governing bodies of counties to
construct and maintain pounds and the destruction or other
disposition of stray dogs under certain conditions. -

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of 1950 be amended by adding a section
numbered 29-194.1, as follows:

§ 29-194.1. The governing body of any county may cause
to be constructed and maintained a pound or enclosure and to
require dogs found running at large without the tag required
by § 29-191 to be confined therein. Such governing body may
require that any dog which has been so confined for a period of
fifteen days and has not been claimed by the owner thereof shall
be destroyed or otherwise disposed of by the game warden of
such county.
