CHAPTER 530
AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 38-253.48 and 88-253.44 of
the Code of 1950, relating to application of Chapter 8.2 of
Title 38 of the Code of 1950 as to certain types of insur-
ance and exemptions from such chapter.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 38-253.43 and 38-253.44 of the Code of 1950 be
amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 38-253.43. Scope of chapter.—This chapter applies to
insurance which insurance companies or other’ insurers
(whether stock, mutual, reciprocal, or interinsurer, or other
type or form of organization) are authorized to write in this
State on or with respect to risks protected in whole or in part
by automatic sprinklers when such risks are insured in con-
nection with an inspection service, to insurance of operating
properties of railroads, and to inland marine insurance on or
with respect to risks located in this State.
Inland marine insurance shall be deemed to include per-
sonal property floater (householders’ comprehensive) insur-
ance and insurance now or hereafter defined by statute, or by
interpretation thereof, or as established by general custom of
the business, as inland marine insurance.
§ 38-253.44. Exemptions from chapter.—This chapter
shall not apply to:
(1) Reinsurance, other than joint reinsurance to the extent
stated in § 38-253.46;
(2) Insurance of vessels or craft, their cargoes, marine
fpuilders’ risks, marine protection and indemnity, or other risks
commonly insured under marine, as distinguished from inland
marine insurance policies;
(3) Insurance of hulls of aircraft, including their acces-
sories and equipment, or against liability arising out of the own-
ership, maintenance or use of aircraft; or
(4) Any other type of insurance, other than (a) insurance
on or with respect to risks protected in whole or in part by au-
tomatic sprinklers when such risks are insured in connection
with an inspection service, (b) insurance of operating properties
of railroads, and * (c) inland marine insurance.
