CHAPTER 523
AN ACT to amend the Code of 1950 by adding a section num-
bered 19-94.1, relating to when bail may be granted in
certain cases.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of 1950 be amended by adding a section num-
bered 19-94.1 as follows:
§ 19-94.1. In any case in which a person charged with a
misdemeanor or felony is held in the jail of some county, city or
town other than that in which he is to be tried upon such charge,
he may be admitted to bail by any officer of the county, city or
town in the jail of which he is so held in accordance with the
provisions of law concerning the granting of bail in cases in
which persons are so admitted to bail or recognizance, when held
in the jail in the county, city or town in which they are to be
tried. The provisions of this act shall apply to persons held in
any such jail for any act committed prior to the effective date
hereof as well as to persons so held thereafter.
