CHAPTER 500

AN ACT to amend the charter of the town of Kilmarnock so as to
provide for appointment of a town sergeant by the town coun-
cil; and to prescribe his term of office and compensation,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The court charter of the town of Kilmarnock is hereby
amended so that on and after the effective date hereof the town
sergeant shall be elected by the town council and shall serve at the
pleasure of the council. The town sergeant so elected shall re-
ceive such compensation as the town council may prescribe.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
