CHAPTER 489
AN ACT to authorize the governing board of Virginia Polytechnic
Institute to erchange certain named property in consideration
of the conveyance to it of certain other property.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The governing board of Virginia Polytechnic Institute,
With the approval of the Governor, is authorized to transfer and
convey upon such conditions as it deems proper the following
described property :
The land situated in Hiwassie Magisterial District of Pulaski
County, Virginia, bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a stake on top of a rock bluff, said stake being
N 67 degrees 00’ E 3498.0 ft. from a stone on the North bank of
Max Creek, a corner of property of the Boy Scouts of America,
and the Radford State Teachers College, and N 22 degrees 00’ W
198.0 ft. from the North side of the intersection of Chimney
Branch with Max Creek, thence S 67 degrees 30’ E 1501.5 ft. to a
stake on top of a ridge and on East side of a logging road, thence
S 18 degrees 00’ E 4999.5 ft. to a stake on top of a mountain,
thence S 50 degrees 00’ W 2664.75 ft. to a stake on top of a ridge,
thence N 33 degrees 00’ W 3993.0 ft. to a stake on top of a ridge,
said stake being S 73 degrees 00’ I 199.65 ft. from a stake, a
corner of Radford State Teachers College and the Boy Scouts of
America, thence N 39 degrees 11’ E 3910.5 ft. (a calculated course)
to the point of beginning, and containing 388.4 acres, more or less.
Such property shall only be conveyed, and only then to the
owner of the hereinafter described property, in consideration of
the conveyance to Virginia Polytechnic Institute by said owner of
all its right, title and interest in and to the following described
property :

stone and two black gums near “No Coat” spring; thence 8S. 78 de-
grees 00’ E. 391.87 ft. to a stone; thence S. 19 degrees 30’ E.
891.0 ft., crossing a creek, to a stone; thence S. 81 degrees 15’ W.
297.0 ft., crossing a creek to a stone; thence S. 75 degrees 45’ E.
330 ft. to a stone about 90 ft. east of Little Max Creek; thence S.

degrees 45’ E. 234.3 ft. to two locusts, N. 18 degrees 0714’ E. 326.7
ft. to two dogwoods, N. 47 degrees 30’ E. 198.0 ft. to a dogwood,
N. 23 degrees 30’ W. 218.62 ft. to a white oak, N. 65 degrees 15’ E.
268.12 ft. to a black oak, S. 79 degrees 00’ E. 668.25 ft. to a bunch
of chestnut saplings; thence leaving top of mountain, N. 36 de-
grees 15’ W. 1402.5 ft. to a point; thence N. 60 degrees 00’ E.
1155.0 ft. to the point of beginning, and containing 363.5 acres,
more or less.
§ 2. The deed from governing board of Virginia Polytechnic
Institute shall be subject to such conditions and restrictions as
the governing board deems proper. The deeds of conveyance by,
and conveyance to, the governing board shall be approved by the
Attorney General as to the form and content thereof.
§ 3. The conveyance by the governing board of Virginia
Polytechnic Institute shall operate to transfer and convey all
right, title and interest of the Commonwealth, Virginia Polytechnic
Institute, and Radford State Teachers College in and to the said
property authorized to be conveyed to the grantees named in the
deed.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from passage.
