AN ACT to regulate fishing on Sunday in certain counties; and to
provide the conditions under which the Act shall become
effective.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. In any county with an area of more than nine hundred
square miles and having a population of less than fifty thousand it
shall be unlawful to fish on private property between 12 o’clock
midnight Saturday and 12 o’clock midnight Sunday without the
written permission of the landowner or his duly authorized agent
or member of his household, which written permission must speci-
fically permit fishing on Sunday and must be carried on the person
of permittee as is required with respect to a fishing license, and
said written permission shall be required whether the land is
posted or not.
§ 2. The provisions of this act shall be in addition to all
provisions of law and rules and regulations having the force and
effect of law.
§ 3. <A violation of the act shall constitute a misdemeanor
and punishable accordingly.
2. This act shall not become effective unless and until the govern-
ing body of the county passes a proper resolution declaring it in
effect, which resolution shall be published once a week for two
consecutive weeks in any daily newspaper having general circula:
tion in the county. |
3. An emergency exists and this act is in force from passage.
