CHAPTER 368

AN ACT to amend the Code of 1950 by adding a section num-
bered 46-447.1, providing under what circumstances per-
sons involved in motor vehicle accidents shall not be re-
quired to file proof of financial responsibility. 1 H8701

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of 1950 be amended by adding a sectior
numbered 46-447.1 as follows:

§ 46-447.1. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this
Article to the contrary, no person shall be required to give 01
maintain proof of his financial responsibility when he has fur.
nished the security or has obtained the release mentioned in this
article, or has satisfied within fifteen days any final judgment
in an amount and upon a cause of action as hereinbefore stated
Persons heretofore required by the provisions of this article t
give and maintain proof of financial responsibility are hereb
relieved of such requirement as of July one, nineteen hundrec
fifty, provided any such person has furnished the security o1
has obtained the release provided for herein or has satisfied an;
final judgment as herein stated.

The provisions of this section shall not be construed t
relieve any person from giving or maintaining proof of hi.
financial responsibility when he is required so to do for some
reason other than having been involved in a motor vehicle
accident.
