AN ACT for the relief of J. W. Huff.

Whereas, during the summer of 1949, J. W. Huff was Super.
visor of North Fork Magisterial District of Washington county.
and as such, bound himself to a contract whereby certain im.
provements and repairs were to be made on secondary roads ir
the district, and
Whereas, such improvements were made, and the State and
district were thereby benefited, all to the sum of fifteen hundred
dollars ($1500.00), and a bill in that amount rendered by the
contractors to J. W. Huff; and
Whereas, the bill in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars
($1500.00) was presented to the Board of Supervisors of the
county for payment and it was found that the Board was not
authorized by law to expend county funds for the improvement
or repair of secondary roads; and
Whereas, upon this determination, J. W. Huff paid the sum
of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500.00) from his personal funds;
he being legally required to do so, and duly petitioned the Board
of Supervisors to pass a resolution requesting the General As-
sembly to pass a special act to reimburse him for the fifteen
hundred dollars ($1500.00) so expended; and
Whereas, by proper procedure the resolution was carried
at the regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors for Wash-
ington County on Monday, September 29, nineteen forty-nine,
requésting the General Assembly to enact a bill for the reim-
bursement of J. W. Huff in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars
($1500.00), there being no method by which he can recover
same, Now, Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. There is hereby appropriated out of the special fund in the
State Treasury available for the construction, reconstruction
and maintenance of secondary highways of Washington county
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500.00) to be paid J. W.
Huff in the manner provided by law.
