CHAPTER 342
AN ACT to authorize the governing bodies of counties to prohibit
the possession, sale, storage, or use of certatn fireworks, and to
provide penalties for violations,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The governing body of any county having the county
executive form of government may by ordinance prohibit the
possession, sale, offering for sale, storage, or use of any fireworks
of any nature whatsoever. The term fireworks as used in this act,
includes firecrackers, torpedoes, skyrockets, Roman candles, spark-
lers, pinwheels, or other substance or thing, of whatever form or
construction, containing nitrates, chlorates, oxalates, sulphides of
lead, barium, antimony, nitroglycerin, phosphorous, or any other
explosive, inflammable compound or substance, intended or com-
monly known as fireworks in such county.
§ 2. The governing body of any such county may further pro-
vide that any person violating any provision of any such ordinance
so adopted shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished as pro-
vided by law.
