CHAPTER 319

AN ACT to provide that certain counties shall require water
companies laying pipes or mains on highway rights of way
to furnish water supply and hydrant connections adequate
for fire protection.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That any county adjoining a county having a popu-
lation in excess of two thousand persons per square mile shall
require any water company laying mains or pipe lines on the
rights of way of a State highway, when such lines or mains
are adequate, to furnish at a reasonable cost a supply of water
sufficient for fire protection and the necessary hydrant connec-
tions where in the judgment of the Board of Supervisors of such
county the same is required.
