CHAPTER 307
AN ACT to amend and reenact § 46-827 of the Code of 1950, re-
lating to maximum permissive height for vehicles.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46-327 of the Code of 1950 be amended and re-
enacted as follows:
§ 46-327. Height.—No vehicle unladen or with load shall
exceed a height of twelve feet, six inches, except that vehicles
designed and used for the transportation of motor vehicles, com-
monly called car carriers, may be not more than thirteen feet,
six inches in height.
Nothing contained in this section shall permit the operation
of any car carriers of a height in excess of twelve feet, six inches
except where clearances greater than that permit, nor be con-
strued to require the public authorities to provide vertical clear-
ances in excess of twelve feet, six inches. Car carriers operating
under the provisions of this exception shall be held financially
responsible for any damage that results to overhead obstructions
from such operation.
