CHAPTER 294
AN ACT to authorize the Virginia Military Institute to enter
into a contract with and to convey to the Town of Lexing-
ton, Virginia, so much of ‘The Island’, located at East
Lexington, Virginia, as may be necessary for the Town of
Lexzington’s sewage disposal plant site.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia,
be authorized to enter into a contract with the Town of Lex-
ington, Virginia, and to convey to the Town of Lexington such
portion of the island in the Maury River, located north of the
bridge on US Highway 11, as may be required for the installa-
tion of a sewage disposal plant by the Town of Lexington. The
island was acquired by VMI by purchase, the deed being dated
June 18, 1946, (record in Deed Book No. 192, page 141, Rock-
bridge County, Virginia) and contains 6 acres more or less.
The contract and deed shall describe in so far as necessary cer-
tain services to be rendered by the Town of Lexington to the
Virginia Military Institute in exchange for the property con-
veyed to the Town of Lexington.
