AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 24-182 and 24-183 of the Code
of 1950, relating to when polls open.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 24-182 and 24-183 of the Code of 1950 be amended
and reenacted as follows:
§ 24-182. Hours polls to be open for October through
May.—At all elections by the people held between the thirtieth
day of September and the first day of June, the polls shall be
opened at each voting place at six o’clock A. M. eastern standard
time of the day on which the election is directed to be had and
closed at six o’clock P. M. eastern standard time of the same
day. The judges of election shall ascertain and make a list by
name of the qualified voters, if any, in line before the polling
place at the hour of closing, and shall permit such voters and
no others to cast their ballots.
§ 24-188. Hours polls to be open for June through Sep-
tember.—At all elections by the people held between the thirty-
first day of May and the first day of October the polls shall be
opened at six-thirty o’clock A. M. eastern Standard time and
closed at seven-thirty o’clock P. M. eastern standard time of the
same day. The judges of election shall ascertain and make a list
by name of the qualified voters, if any, in line before the polling
place at the hour of closing, and shall permit such voters and
no others to cast their ballots.
