CHAPTER 267

AN ACT to amend the Code of 1950 by adding thereto a scction
numbered 8-468.1 to provide a scale of fees for clerks for making
up and certifying the original records of cases on applications
to the Supreme Court of Appeals for writs of error or appeals.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of 1950 be amended by adding thereto a section
numbered 8-468.1, reading as follows:

§ 8-468.1. Whenever the clerk of a trial court makes up, certi-
fies and transmits an original record pursuant to the rules of the
Supreme Court of Appeals, he shall receive compensation for all
papers necessary to be copied the sum of three cents for every
twenty words so copied, and, in addition thereto, the sum of five
dollars. The compensation provided herein shall be in lieu of all
compensation provided for in § 14-128 (38) and § 8-468 of the
Code of Virginia 1950.

2. An emergency existing, this act shall become effective on
February one, nineteen hundred fifty.
