CHAPTER 138

AN ACT to amend an act entitled “An Act to incorporate the
town of Virginia Beach, in the county of Princess Anne,
Virginia”; approved March 6, 1906, as amended, by adding
a section numbered 6-b which section relates to the tax
rate in the town of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That an act entitled “An act to incorporate the Town of
Virginia Beach, in the County of Princess Anne, Virginia”; ap-
proved March 6, 1906, as amended, be further amended by add-
ing a section numbered 6-b as follows:

§ 6-b. The council of the town of Virginia Beach may, in
its discretion, fix such annual levy on property subject to taxa-
tion in the town of Virginia Beach for town purposes at the rate
of not exceeding five dollars ($5.00) per hundred dollars of
assessed valuation of such property, any provisions of the gen-
eral laws of the State or of this charter to the contrary not-
withstanding, provided that the council shall not fix such levy on
property partially segregated to the State for the purposes of
State taxation at a rate higher than is or may be permitted by
the general laws relating thereto.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its

passage.
