AN ACT to amend and reenact §§ 45-80 and 45-81 of the Code of
1950, relating, respectively, to copies of rules and notices
and record books to be kept at mines, and notices to be given
the State Mine Inspector.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 45-80 and 45-81 of the Code of 1950 be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 45-80. Duty of superintendent as to printed rules, notices
and record books.—The superintendent shall keep on hand at
the mine a supply of printed rules and notices and record books
required by this title. * He shall see that such rules, notices and
record books are delivered to the proper persons at the time,
and that they are properly cared for, and he shall also see that
the rules and notices are posted in conspicuous places at or
near the entrance to the mine and kept in such condition that
they will always be legible.
§ 45-81. Occurrences of which notice to be given Inspector.
—The operator or superintendent of every mine shall, at least
ten days preceding, send to the State Mine Inspector, notices of
the following occurrences:
(1) When a mine is about to be abandoned;
(2) When the working of a mine is to be resumed after
abandonment, or after a discontinuance for a period exceeding
thirty days. Such mine shall be inspected and meet the approva
of the State Mine Inspector before operations begin;
(3) When any change occurs in the name of a mine, or ir
the name of the operator of a mine; and
(4) The opening of any new * mine.
