Chap. 444.—An ACT for the relief of Evelyn Williford. (H 535]

Whereas, on June eight, nineteen hundred forty-seven Evelyn Willi-
ford parked her car in a lawful manner on Point Comfort Avenue and
stepped out of the car onto the Avenue (which was under the control
of the State Department of Highways) ; and
Whereas, there was on such Avenue a dangerous condition arising
from existence thereon of a narrow concrete drain which was totally
obscured by grass; and
Whereas, Miss Williford in the exercise of due care and relying
upon the State Department of Highways proceeded to cross the Avenue
and fell into the drain sustaining severe and lasting injuries, prope
loss, and medical expenses, the latter amounting to one hundred fifteen
dollars and ninety-five cents ($115.95) ; and
Whereas, Miss Williford should be reimbursed for her expenses at
the least and there is no method by which she can recover the same;
Now, Therefore
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. There is hereby appropriated out of the special fund in the
State treasury available for the construction and maintenance of high-
ways, the sum of one hundred fifteen dollars, ninety-five cents, to be
paid Miss Evelyn Williford in the manner provided by law.
