Chap. 427.—An ACT for the relief of Elsie Mae Waters. [H 378]

Whereas, in the month of November, nineteen hundred forty-six,
a coat belonging to Elsie Mae Waters, an employee of the Division of
Motor Vehicles, was stolen from the office of the said Division by some
person, or persons, unknown ; and
Whereas, the theft was the result of the failure of the Division of
Motor Vehicles to provide reasonably safe facilities for the protection
of coats of its employees during working hours; and
Whereas, the coat at the time of the theft thereof was reasonably
valued at fifty dollars ($50.00) and whereas it is deemed fit and proper
that Miss Waters should be compensated for the said loss so suffered
by her; Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
There is hereby appropriated to the said Elsie Mae Waters the sum
of fifty ($50.00) dollars, the same to be paid to her by the State Treas-
urer on the warrant of the said Comptroller out of any funds in the
State treasury not otherwise appropriated, and the said Comptroller
is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the State
Treasurer payable from any funds to the credit of the Virginia Depart-
ment of Highways and payable to the said Elsie Mae Waters,
