Chap. 396.—An ACT to authorize clerks of courts to make and certify copies of
certain instruments filed for record in their offices, and to use such copies for
making permanent photostat records of such instruments.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Section 1. In offices of clerks of courts of record in which instru-
ments are recorded by any photographic process, the clerk may, in the
event any such instrument is in such condition that a perfect and legible
record cannot be produced by such process, make and certify a copy of
such instrument for which he shall be entitled to such fees as are pres-
cribed by law for making and certifying copies of instruments and use
such copy for making permanent records of his office by such photo-
graphic process. Such original instrument shall be preserved in the
clerk’s office, in the same manner as is prescribed by law for preserving
wills.
