Chap. 371.—An ACT to provide for a study of the Chesapeake Bay and the
tributaries thereof, and all the tidal waters of the Commonwealth o! vEeeta
Approved March 31, 1948
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Section 1. The Virginia Fisheries Laboratory is authorized and
directed to conduct a hydrographic and biological study of the Chesapeake
Bay and the tributaries thereof and all the tidal waters of the Common-
wealth of Virginia. Such study shall include consideration of the seafood
resources and means and methods by which the same might be
replenished.
Section 2. In conducting such study the Virginia Fisheries Labora-
tory is authorized to obtain and make use of the services of any agency,
blic or private, which might be able to aid the study. The Laboratory
is further authorized to accept and make use of such funds as are made
available from any source, public and private, for the purpose of further-
ing the study and to cooperate with similar agencies of other states and
the United States in making the study authorized hereby.
Section 3. The Virginia Fisheries Laboratory shall. undertake and
complete the study hereby directed as soon as practicable in order that
informed action can be taken by those concerned therein. The expenses
of such study shall be borne from funds provided by law.
