Chap. 364.—An ACT to amend Chapter 217, as amended, of the Acts of Assembly
of 1918, approved March 14, 1918, and being the charter of the city of Clifton
Forge, by adding a section numbered 23-a authorizing purchase or condemnation
by council of land within or without the city for certain purposes and under
certain conditions. [H 530]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That chapter two hundred seventeen, as amended, of the Acts of
Assembly of nineteen hundred eighteen, approved March fourteen, nine-
teen hundred eighteen and being the charter of the city of Clifton Forge
be amended by adding a section numbered twenty-three-a as follows:
Section 23-a. Any thing in this charter to the contrary notwith-
standing the city council shall have power by purchase or condemnation
to acquire lands situated within or without the city limits for use by
colored persons as a park, provided that the provisions of section thirty-
eight hundred and thirty-two of the Code of Virginia shall apply to any
property belonging to any corporation possessing the power of eminent
domain that may be sought to be taken by condemnation hereunder.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
